Gas, electricity tariffs to rise in Uzbekistan
The Uzbek Finance Ministry approved new gas tariffs for population and enterprises from April 1, 2016, Uztransgas state joint-stock company reported on March 17.
The cost of a cubic meter of gas will increase by 8.2 percent from April 1, 2016. The cost of a cubic meter of gas will hit 226 soum according to the gas meter index (compared to 208.92 soums currently), while 390.83 soums (361.3 soums currently) if there is no gas meter.
Earlier gas tariffs increased by 7.3 percent in Uzbekistan in October 2015.
The Ministry also approved new electricity tariffs, to be used from April 1, 2016.
In particular, the cost of one kilowatt hour (kWh) of electricity supplied to the population will increase by 8.7 percent from current 167.4 sums up to 182 sums, but in the houses equipped with electric stoves – by 9.1 percent from 83.4 sums to 91 sums.
Earlier, the electricity tariffs increased in October 2015 and the cost of one kWh of electricity increased by eight percent.
It was previously reported that cold water tariffs will also increase by 5.7 percent, central heating and hot water tariffs by nine percent from April 1, 2016.
The official exchange rate is 2866,75 sum/$ 1 as of March 17.
