By Sara Rajabova
Iran, which has recently made great achievements in producing military products, has taken the fourth place in missile industry in the world.
Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan, Iran’s Defense Minister said the Islamic country has an acceptable status among countries possessing missile capabilities, and stands after the United States, Russia and China.
Dehqan said in a televised interview with Al-Alam channel on December 19 that “in proportion to possible threats against the country, we have tried to increase the range of our missiles.”
He noted that Iran is currently striving to boost the accuracy of its missiles and make them radar-evading.
Dehqan further said Iran has achieved great successes in the missile industry in recent years, adding that the country will not allow anyone to raise doubt about its missiles.
Over the past years, Iran has made important breakthroughs in its defense sector, attained self-sufficiency in producing important military equipment and systems and enhanced the preparedness of its forces by holding various drills.
Iran, however, has repeatedly assured other nations, especially regional neighbors, that its military might poses no threat to other countries, insisting that its defense doctrine is merely based on deterrence.
Iran has recently taken great strides in defense sector and attained self-sufficiency in producing essential military equipment and systems. Iran has so far unveiled various domestically produced drones, including Ababil, Fotros, Hazem, Karrar (long range attack drone), Mohajer, Sarir, Shahed 129, Yasir and Zohal.
Since 1992, Iran has manufactured its own tanks, armored personnel carriers, missiles, radars, boats, submarines and fighter planes.
