Russian citizens among criminal “authorities” detained in Baku

Azerbaijan's Interior Ministry disclosed the names of the criminal "authorities" detained on Saturday, the ministry reported on Sunday, Trend news agency reported.

As a result of special operations conducted by the General Directorate for Combating Organized Crime, previously convicted Sumgayit residents Etibar Abbasov, Natig Agakishiyev, Natig Mammadov, Russian citizens Khalid Umidov, previously convicted Asgar Asgarov, Tovuz resident Nyamet Abdullayev, Baku residents Elman Aliyev and previously convicted Natig Eyvazov, Emin Eyvazov, Zaur Mammadov and Shaki resident Ramil Agasiyev were detained.

The search resulted in finding and seizure of one Makarov pistol, seven rounds and 11.288 grams of heroin belonging to Etibar Abbasov, one TT pistol with obliterated serial number and 5.200 grams of heroin belonging to Khalid Umidov, one revolver with erased serial number belonging to Elman Aliyev, three grams of heroin belonging to Natig Mammadov, 2.150 grams of heroin belonging to Asgar Asgarov, 3.074 grams of heroin belonging to Natig Atakishiyev and 30.60 grams of hashish belonging to Nyamet Abdullayev.

Criminal proceedings under various articles and investigation are underway.

On Saturday, Interior Ministry received information on negotiations on the division of spheres of influence among a group of individuals with criminal records, who call themselves criminal "authorities", being held in Ferat tea house in Khatai district of Baku. The inspection verified the acquired information.
