Unemployment benefits to be provided in 10 cities, regions over COVID-19

Lump-sum payment for unemployed people will be given in 10 cities and regions in Azerbaijan amid COVID-19, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population has reported.
The payments are part of measures of social support to be implemented during the coronavirus pandemic in line with the presidential instructions.
The lump-sum payments in the amount of AZN 190 ($111.7) will be provided in Lankaran and Sheki cities, Jalilabad, Bilasuvar, Gakh, Zagatala, Masalli, Ismayilli, Quba and Khachmaz regions.
It was noted that those who received lump-sum payment on previous stages from the above-mentioned cities and regions will be paid a lump-sum payment after repeated inspection in accordance with the rules approved by the Cabinet of Ministers. Thus, repeated application of citizens is not required.
The funds will be transferred to the bank cards of these citizens issued in May to receive a lump sum payment and official information will be sent to them.
Likewise, the lump sum payment is expected to cover over 100,000 people.
It should be noted that 600,000 unemployed and those who lost their jobs during the special quarantine regime were provide with lump-sum payment in April-May 2020 in the regions where strict quarantine regime was in force. For these purpose, AZN 332 million ($195.2M) was spent.
It should be noted that the lump-sum payments are provided in accordance with the relevant decision of the Cabinet of Ministers, to people who are unemployed or have lost their jobs due to the spread of coronavirus pandemic.
Azerbaijan first introduced quarantine regime on March 24.
