Azerbaijan, Turkey to jointly produce means of communication

Azerbaijan and Turkey eye to further boost cooperation in military sector, putting accent on the military industry.

The two countries have agreed on the joint production of various means of communication, Trend reports referring to the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense Industry on January 14.

The agreement was reached during a visit of the delegation of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense Industry to one of the leading Turkish defense industry companies, ASELSAN. A meeting of the delegation with the heads of the company was organized.

During the meeting, the significance of the projects implemented by the enterprises of the ministry and ASELSAN was stressed.

In conclusion, an agreement on the joint production of means of communication was signed between the Cihaz Production Association of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense Industry and ASELSAN.

Azerbaijani-Turkish talks on defense industry cooperation were held in Ankara on January 14.

The meeting, organized in the Turkish Ministry of Defense Industry, was held in accordance with the provisions of the agreement "On cooperation in the defense industry field between the Turkish and Azerbaijani governments".

Azerbaijani delegation attended the meeting and was represented by the leadership of the Ministry of Defense Industry and heads of enterprises. From the Turkish side - heads of companies "Aselsan", "Roketsan", "Ayesaş", "TAİ", "Çukurova" and other leading defense industry enterprises took part in the meeting.

During the talks, presentations were made on the activities of the Turkish companies.

The sides expressed satisfaction with the current cooperation in the defense industry of the two countries. In addition, the sides reached a mutual agreement on cooperation in the implementation of a number of new projects.

In conclusion, a protocol was signed following the meeting. During the visit, the delegation also was received by the Minister of Defense Industry of Turkey, Ismail Demir.

Diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey were established on January 14, 1992.

Turkey became the first country to recognize Azerbaijan as an independent state, which declared its independence on August 30, 1991.

So far, the Azerbaijani and Turkish armed forces have hold regular drills, featuring various tactical and combat tasks both on Turkish and Azerbaijani territories.

Turkey is trying to contribute to the process of peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in the framework of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan.

Ankara is part of the OSCE Minsk Group and calls for speeding up the negotiation process, expressing concern about the clashes taking place on the contact line between the Azerbaijani and Armenian troops. Unfortunately, the Minsk Group delays the process, without taking decisive steps in this direction.
