The Azerbaijani Air Forces detected and destroyed a tactical unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) near Azerbaijan’s Agdam region on March 2 , the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry reported.

The statement reads that an X-55 UAV belonging to the Armenian armed forces attempted to carry out reconnaissance flights over the Azerbaijani positions. It was promptly discovered and destroyed by Azerbaijan's Air Forces.

Armenia uses UAVs against Azerbaijan from time to time. On February 25, Azerbaijani armed forces destroyed Armenian UAV and pillbox near the Talish village. Another UAV belonging to the Armenian armed forces was destroyed on January 22 in the direction of Azerbaijan’s Tovuz region.

Armenia broke out a lengthy war against Azerbaijan laying territorial claims on its South Caucasus neighbor. Since a war in the early 1990s, Armenian armed forces have occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan's territory, including Nagorno-Karabakh and seven surrounding regions. More than 20,000 Azerbaijanis were killed and over 1 million were displaced as a result of the large-scale hostilities.

Armenia has not yet implemented four UN Security Council resolutions on withdrawal of its armed forces from the Nagorno-Karabakh and surrounding districts.
