The National Olympic Committee (NOC) has hosted a book presentation "Professional Sports and Medicine" dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of National Leader Heydar Aliyev.

The publication highlights the latest trends in the professional sports and medicine in Azerbaijan, Azernews reports.

The book authors include Olympic champion, Vice-Rector For Sports Affairs at Azerbaijan State Academy of Physical Education and Sports Farid Mansurov, the head of the Gynecology Department of the Scientific-Research Institute of Obstetrics and Gynecology, President of Khari Bulbul Shusha Volleyball Club, associate professor Fatma Hajiyeva.

The book reviewers are chairman of the NOC Fair Games Commission Khazar Isayev rehabilitator, physiotherapist, specialist in sports injuries, advisor to the TABIB Executive Director of Osteopath Parvin Akbarov.

Speaking at the presentation, NOC Vice-President Chingiz Huseynzade stressed the development of sports medicine in Azerbaijan.

Farid Mansurov briefed on the book idea,which describes the history of sports, its essence in society, and the most prestigious sports events held in the country.

Fatma Hajiyeva said that the publication provides insight into the role of medicine in professional sports.

She noted that the book describes the characteristics of medical assistance provided to professional athletes working in various sports.

Chairman of the NOC Fair Games Commission Khazar Isayev, director of the State Scientific Medical Library Yegane Piraliyeva, director of the Children's Rehabilitation Center Nargiz Aliyeva, the leading rehabilitator of the Educational Science Laboratory of the Academy of Medical Sciences Hakim Ibrahimov, head of the education department at Azerbaijan National Anti-Doping Agency (AMADA) Lala Hajiyeva, European and world taekwondo champion Farida Azizova expressed their opinion about the book, which examines the health issues of the participants of the Olympic Games and the characteristics of the medical assistance provided to them.

The NOC General Secretary of NOC Azer Aliyev also participated in the event.
