UNWTO (World Tourism Organization) experts have named the countries with the largest increase in tourist flow. Tajikistan took first line in the list. In 2018, the tourist flow to the country increased by 190 percent.
Ecuador (increase of 51 percent in the tourist flow), Egypt (36.8 percent), Tuvalu (35.5 percent) and Uganda (31.9 percent) were also among the leaders.
More than 215,000 foreign citizens entered Tajikistan in January-March 2019, According to the Tourism Development Committee under the Government of Tajikistan.
Numon Abdugaforzoda, the Chairman of the Committee, has previously said that the tourist season in the country began in May and the number of foreign tourists will gradually increase.
Currently, more than 145 travel companies operate in the tourism market of Tajikistan.
In 2018, as many as 1.16 million foreign citizens entered the country, which is 2.6 times more than in 2017, according to the Committee.
