The flexible and comprehensive foreign policy of Kyrgyzstan strengthens ties and international relations with major foreign states and partners, one of which is the South Korea.

Dinara Kemelova, the Kyrgyz Ambassador to the South Korea, has met with the Vice-President of the Korean Asiana Airlines Kim Tae Yop, the Kyrgyz Embassy in the South Korea informed on April 12.

During the meeting, Kemelova spoke about the annual growth of Korean tourists visiting Kyrgyzstan. She noted that mutual interest is growing between the two countries, especially in tourism and business.

Taking into account the growth prospects for the number of tourists to visit Kyrgyzstan from South Korea and the Southeast Asian countries, she stressed the urgency of opening direct passenger air links between Bishkek and Seoul.

Kemelova added that this is important for the launch of direct air cargo transportation between the two countries.

Kim Tae Yop, in turn, said that he will study the proposals of the Kyrgyz side, taking into account the profitability and prospects of opening a direct flight with Kyrgyzstan.

Expressing his admiration for the nature of Kyrgyzstan, as well as interest in the history of the Kyrgyz people, he said that a large increase in the tourist flow is needed, which will be the impetus for the opening of direct flights between Kyrgyzstan and the South Korea.

Established in 1988, Asiana Airlines has developed into a global airline. The company is striving to become one of the world's largest airlines, making intensive efforts for sustainable growth.

Diplomatic relations between Kyrgyzstan and the South Korea were established in January 1992. In January-October 2018, the trade turnover between the two countries amounted to $23.4 million.
