Azerbaijan to chair Energy Charter Conference

Azerbaijan will chair the Energy Charter Conference in 2020, the Ministry of Energy said in a statement Sept. 21.
Taking into account that the Southern Gas Corridor will be fully commissioned in 2020, and at that time Baku will be the most suitable place for the above-mentioned event, Azerbaijan has put forward its candidacy for the chairmanship of the Energy Charter Conference.
In addition to Azerbaijan, Armenia and Mongolia claimed the chairmanship in 2020. But thanks to the long work of the Azerbaijani side on this issue and the negotiations conducted through diplomatic channels, Azerbaijan was approved as the most suitable candidate for the chairmanship of the Energy Charter Conference in 2020.
Armenia and Mongolia agreed to chair in 2021 and 2022 respectively.
