WB ready to support Azerbaijan’s social security reforms

Education Sector Manager for Europe and Central Asia at the World Bank Alberto Rodriguez has expressed the WB`s readiness to support security reforms in Azerbaijan as he met Azerbaijani Minister of Labor and Social Protection of Population Salim Muslumov.

The sides exchanged views on future cooperation, implementation of a new project on improvement of social services and labor force.

Rodriguez said the WB is keen to continue cooperation with Azerbaijan. He praised Azerbaijan`s socio-economic development.

Muslumov hailed cooperation between the organization and the country. He stressed the World Bank`s role and assistance to labor and social security reforms in the country.

According to Muslumov, the Social Protection Development Project contributed to improving the social security system in the country.

Earlier in November, the bank's Baku Office said the WB is ready to continue supporting the development of education and rural sector in Azerbaijan.

The investment portfolio of the World Bank in Azerbaijan consists of 17 projects. The World Bank has financed as many as 54 projects worth of over $3 billion since the country joined the bank.
