Azerbaijan, which strives to become a popular destination for tourists, is doind everthing possible to ease the issuance of visas to the guests of the country.

Currently, Azerbaijani programmers are developing a mobile app that will simplify the procedure for obtaining visas by tourists, a source close to the project told Trend.

The app will process passport data and send it to the Asan Visa system, the source noted.

"To obtain a visa, tourists will only need to take a picture of their passport data without having to fill out a form via the web interface. The service was supposed to be launched in February, but due to the fact that the developers needed to purchase additional software to integrate into the app, they could not meet the planned deadlines," the source said.

The service will be a paid one, and two options are considered for its commercialization - either the sale of the app or receiving a commission fee from the issuance of each visa. According to preliminary information, the service will cost the user $2, not including the cost of the visa itself.

From August 30, 2017, foreigners and stateless persons not depending on the non-working days and holidays are able to apply for urgent e-visa within three hours.

This is a result of the issues carried out within the implementation of the Order No. 1482 dated June 21, 2017 on the amendments of “Regulations on ASAN Visa system” by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and part of additional events regarding the improvement and development of the system.

Recall that “ASAN Visa” system was established according to the Decree No. 923 entitled “On simplification of electronic visa issuance and creation of "ASAN Visa" system” by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated June 1, 2016.

Foreigners and stateless persons are able to obtain e-visa in three steps within ASAN Visa system (apply, pay and download e-visa). E-visa is a one-entry document with a period of 30 days. E-visas are documented only to foreigners from 95 countries.

In addition, ASAN Visa system applies group visas for foreigners. E-visa applications can be created for an individual, for a family (minimum of 2 and maximum of 10 persons) or for a group (minimum of 10 and maximum of 300 persons). By group visas, you can use only one e-mail address and one online payment card for all applications.
