Turkish company interested in building power lines along TAPI gas pipeline

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a meeting with Board’s Chairman of the Calyk Holding group of companies Ahmet Calyk, the press service of the head of state reported on January 31.
During the meeting, the head of Çalyk Holding informed the head of the state about the status of the objects entrusted to the company, including the progress in the construction of the International Seaport in the city of Turkmenbashi, designed to become an important transit and transport hub of regional and interregional importance, and a plant for the production of carbamide in the city of Garabogaz as well as a combined-cycle steam-gas power plant in the territory of Mary HPP.
In this regard, the desire of the holding to further strengthen its positions in the Turkmen market was confirmed. Calyk stressed that the Turkish holding highly appreciates the trust of Turkmen government and will continue to approach the fulfillment of partnership commitments in the most serious and responsible manner.
In particular, it was a question of interest to become a partner in the implementation of such an important project as the construction of a 500-kilovolt power transmission line along the route of the transnational gas pipeline Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI), the report said.
Çalık Holding currently operates in energy, construction and real estate, textile, mining, finance and telecom sectors. With operations in 22 countries across Central Asia, Balkans and Middle East and North Africa (MENA) regions, the company employs nearly 40,000 people.
Turkish companies in Turkmenistan implement large-scale projects in sectors such as transport, fuel and energy, communication, agriculture, construction, trade, water resources management. Currently, Turkmenistan has registered about 600 companies with Turkish capital.
Turkey is Turkmenistan's top import partner; Turkish goods — mostly electronic equipment, machinery, processed metals and furniture — make up over 25 percent of Turkmenistan's imports.
In its turn, Turkey purchases electricity, polymers, propylene, oil and oil products, cotton yarn and textiles.
Apart from the construction sector, the textile and tourism sectors are other areas with active Turkish private involvement.
