IPC head praises Azerbaijan’s sports policy

President of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), Sir Philip Craven has hailed Azerbaijan`s sports policy during his meeting with the head of the country's National Paralympic Committee Ilgar Rahimov in Lyon, France.

Craven welcomed the fact that heads of the national paralympic committees of several countries are seeking to establish cooperation with Azerbaijan.

He also stressed the importance of Azerbaijan`s holding the inaugural European Games in 2015, adding that he will visit Baku to discuss the possibility of organizing an event of the International Paralympic Committee in the country on the sidelines of the Games.

Rahimov provided an insight into the activities and recent projects of the Azerbaijan National Paralympic Committee.

Besides, as part of his visit to Lyon, the Azerbaijani National Paralympic Committee president has met with his Croatian counterpart Ratko Kovacic.

He highlighted the activity of the country's Paralympic Committee.

In turn, Kovacic gave an insight into recent projects implemented by the Croatian Paralympic Committee.

Kovacic particularly spoke of a project to build a new Paralympic sports complex which will host grand competitions. He invited the Azerbaijani side to join the project.

The 6th International Paralympic Committee's (IPC) Athletics World Championships kicked off in Lyon on July 19 and Azerbaijan has already won silver at the tournament.
