New processing plant constructed in Turkmenistan

A new processing plant of raw cotton constructed in Turkmenistan will be a kind of impetus for the further development of the cotton industry in the region.
The construction of the modern enterprise in the Altyn Asyr district of Akhal region with the annual capacity in 40, 000 tons has already finished, according to the Turkmenpagta State Concern.
The newly constructed plant is fully equipped with the innovative high-tech equipment of world leading manufacturers, such as the American BS Supply Company
This equipment will allow recycling raw material, purifying cotton seeds from the husks using a chemical method, carrying out prevention against the disease and enriching with special nutrients.
Due to the high-tech equipment, the plant will be able to process 15.36 tons of seeds per an hour and about 315 tons of seeds per a day.
Summarizing the possible volume of processed seeds over 4.2 month, the plant will be able to process 40,000 tons of seeds.
The Turkish Engin Group Consortium SA company acted as the contractor of the plant with total area of the industrial complex in 16.95 hectares.
The company will work in three shifts, round-the-clock. Generally, the plant will employ 230 persons.
An average 120, 000 hectares of land in the Akhal province is under cotton. As many as 3,000, 960 tons of seeds are required for its seeding, which will be harvested within 60 days.
Cotton occupies a weighty part in Turkmenistan’s export and is in demand as raw material for tens of modern enterprises dynamically developing in the country’s textile industry.
The cotton is grown in 5 regions (velayats) of Turkmenistan: Ahal, Mary, Lebap, Dashoguz and Balkan.
Some 545,000 hectares of irrigated land have been allotted for cotton in Turkmenistan, where 95 percent is allotted to upland varieties, while 5 percent is allotted to Eloten-14 fine-fiber grade of cotton.
This year, the country’s farmers undertake to harvest 1.05 million metric tons of cotton, as they did last year.
Ashgabat annually hosts an international trade fair of cotton products of Turkmenistan.
