After Reformist candidate Mohammad Reza Aref withdrew his candidacy in favor of another reformist candidate Hassan Roohani, many opposition and reformist figures and groups also declared their support for Roohani, reformist Nooruz news portal reported.

Previously, former presidents of Iran, Mohammad Khatami and Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani also expressed their support for Rouhani.

The Association of Combatant Clerics, Society of Seminary Teachers of Qom, and the Council for Coordinating the Reforms Front are among the main groups supporting Roohani in the presidential race.

In an official statement, the Islamic Iran Participation Front also supported Roohani.

And also Secretary General of the Women's Society of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the daughter of Iran's late leader Imam Khomeini, Zahra Mostafavi also expressed her support for Hassan Rouhani.

Roohani is an Iranian reformist politician. He has been a member of the Assembly of Experts, member of the Islamic Republic of Iran's Expediency Council, member of the Supreme National Security Council, and head of the Center for Strategic Research.

Roohani has been also deputy speaker of the 4th and 5th terms of the country's parliament (Majlis) and secretary of the Supreme National Security Council from 1989 to 2005.

He was also heading Iran's former nuclear negotiating team and was the country's top negotiator with the EU-3 - UK, France, and Germany - on the Iran's nuclear program.

Roohani has vowed to restore the economy and improve rocky relations with the West if he is elected.

He is now reformists' only remaining candidate in the upcoming election.

Iran will hold the 11th presidential election on June 14.

The voters will select the successor of the current President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who is not able to participate in the elections for the third term according to the country's constitutional laws.

The president of Iran is elected for a four-year term in a national election.
