Agreements on the implementation of investment projects worth about 5 billion euros were signed with a number of French compnaies, following the meeting of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev with the leaders of the largest French companies, Podrobno.uz reported.

It was noted at the meeting that there are wide opportunities for foreign investors in Uzbekistan. The necessary regulations to stimulate and protect their activities were adopted. Various obstacles to business development have been eliminated, foreign trade and customs tariff control has been significantly reduced.

"French businessmen highly appreciated the economic reforms implemented in Uzbekistan, stressed that the liberalization of the monetary system and the simplification of visa procedures created favorable opportunities for the development of mutually beneficial cooperation. Such amenities and preferences increased interest in the economy of Uzbekistan. Ths is evidenced by the signing of agreements on investment projects worth about 5 billion euros," said the press service of the head of state.

Developed on the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan, the concept of tax reform will provide greater convenience for businesses and investors.

"For direct dialogue with foreign investors, a decision was made to create a Council on Foreign Investments under the President of Uzbekistan. Its task is to develop proposals for the continuous improvement of the investment climate in Uzbekistan, taking into account the opinions of the investors themselves. We invite you to actively participate in the Council’s work," said Shavkat Mirziyoev.

Earlier, the National Bank of Uzbekistan signed an agreement with Bouygues Batiment International SAS for 100 million euros for the implementation of tourism projects, two agreements with the French bank NATIXIS for a total of 500 million euros, and Crédit Agricole for 300 million euros.

In addition, the French Total EREN and Uzbekenergo agreed to jointly implement a project for the construction of a photopower plant in the Samarkand region, and Fives, together with Uzstroymaterialy, plans to launch the production of automotive glass in Uzbekistan.
