Baku hosts World Fair Play Awards Ceremony

The Fair Play Congress under the topic “Fair Play in Competitive Sport – Making it Real or just an Ideal” has finalized in Baku.

The event finished with the World Fair Play Awards Ceremony that included Azerbaijani Youth and Sport Minister Azad Rahimov, President of the International Committee for Fair Play Jeno Kamuti, and President of the European Fair Play Movement Christian Hinterberger.

Addressing the ceremony, Rahimov hailed the joint Baku Congress of the European Fair Play Movement and International Committee for Fair Play as a success.

Hinterberger presented the Azerbaijani minister with a special award of EFPM.

Chair of the Fair Play Commission of Azerbaijan’s National Olympic Committee Khazar Isayev was awarded for his contribution to the development of the fair play movement.

President of Azerbaijan Boxing and Taekwondo Federations Kamaladdin Heydarov, editor-in-chief of Idman newspaper Qalib Mehdiyev, Azerbaijani referee Nargiz Mehdiyeva, coach Rahman Hajiyev and wrestler Rasul Chunayev were among those who received the Fair Play awards.

At the 21st General Assembly of European Fair Play Movement in Baku, Christian Hinterberger noted that the Azerbaijani capital has excellently hosted the joint Congress of EFPM and International Committee for Fair Play.

He hailed the interesting discussions held in the two-day congress, that will contribute to the protection of the principles of fair games and increasing of transparency in the world.

The European Non-Governmental Sports Organization and the European Fair Play Movement then signed a Memorandum of Understanding. The MoU was inked by the President of ENGSO Carlos Cardoso and President of EFPM Christian Hinterberger.
