Azerbaijan, Iran ink new medical agreement

Azerbaijan and Iran signed a new agreement in the medical sphere on
November 20.
Azerbaijan Medical University's (AMU) Microbiology and Immunology
Department and the Children's Medical Center of the Tehran
University of Medical Sciences signed a cooperation agreement.
The head of the AMU Microbiology and Immunology Department,
Professor Gulnare Nasrullayeva signed the agreement on behalf of
Azerbaijan, the Iranian university's website said.
The parties agreed on cooperation in education, scientific research
and scientist exchange as well as in other areas of interest.
The number of Azerbaijanis visiting Iran for medical treatment is
rising day by day, after the simplification of the visa
regulations. The majority of people visit Tabriz for treatment.
With regard to statistics, every month thousands of Azerbaijani
citizens visit Iran, mainly for the medical treatment.
In 2012, approximately 1600 Azerbaijanis crossed the border to Iran
daily for medical procedures.
