Leaders of Azerbaijani diaspora organizations affiliated to the ACCA-Azerbaijanis Coordination Council in North America from various US states, sent a statement to Cronimet company's offices in the US as a sign of protest against the pollution of Okhchuchay river, which flows through Zangilan district of Azerbaijan into the Araz River, the Azerbaijani State Committee on Work with Diaspora told Trend on July 7.

“The statement focuses on the fact that the Armenian and German companies pollute the Okhchuchay river with toxic waste, which flows through Zangilan district of Azerbaijan and flows into the Araz river,” the document says. “This causes great damage to the ecosystem and biological resources, makes it impossible to use river water for irrigation. Thus, Armenia grossly violated the requirements of the 1992 Helsinki Convention.”

The statement was signed by president of the US-Azerbaijan Center of Integration Samir Novruzov, president of the Azerbaijan Association of New York Ercan Yerdelenli, president of the Azerbaijan Center of Midwest America Farid Mammadov, president of Azerbaijani American Women Association of New York Minavvar Vahabova, president of the New York-Azerbaijan Cultural Center Telman Jalil, president of the Utah-Azerbaijan community Asmar Garayeva, head of the Florida-Azerbaijan Community Esmira Bayramova, head of the Azerbaijan Friendship Organization Adika Iqbal, president of Azerbaijani Association of Minnesota Gunel Rallis, president of the National Music and Global Culture Society Nargiz Aliyarova and president of the North American Azerbaijani Youth Association Aytaj Gasimova.
