Istanbul hosts book presentation about eminent mugham singer [PHOTOS]
A book presentation about mugham singer Mashadi Mammad Farzaliyev has been presented in Istanbul, Turkiye.
The presentation of the book, published in a series of publications by the International Mugham Center, took place in the Büyük Yıldız Han salon, located in the Fatih district of Istanbul.
The author of the book is Doctor of Philosophy in Philology, researcher Gulhuseyn Kazimli. This publication is the second book by Gulhuseyn Kazimli about Mashadi Mammad Farzaliyev. The book presented in Turkiye aroused great public interest.
Recall that the first book titled "Salam Məşədi" tells the story of the life of the mugham singer, who lived in Istanbul for 33 years.
The publication "Son nöqtədən sonra..." provides information about the place where Mashadi Mammad Farzaliyev and his family members are buried.
Note that Mashadi Mukhamed Farzaliyev was born in 1872 in the city of Shusha. He received his musical education at the school of the legendary Harrat Gulu.
Farzaliyev had a strong voice with a wide range. With great skill he performed such mughams as Chahargah, Kurd-Shahnaz, Heyrati, Mansuriye, Karabakh Shikestesi and others.
In the history of Azerbaijani art, he is well-known for his virtuoso performance of the Shushter mugham.
From 1912 to 1915, around 40 mugams, tasnifs and folk songs performed by Farzaliyev were recorded on gramophone records by the Sport-Record”(Warsaw) and Extrafon (Kiev) campaigns.
In 1923, he was invited to Ganja by Mashadi Jamil Amirov to teach mugham, where he played a big role in training young mugham singer.
Since 1926, Farzaliyev has performed in many cities of Russia, Poland, Germany, France, Belgium, England, Romania, Turkiye and Iran.
In 1929, he moved to Turkiye, where he lived until the end of his life. Farzaliyev died in 1962 in Istanbul.
