Water resources in focus of Kazakhstan
Importance of the activities undertaken by the Kazakh Environmental Protection Ministry to ensure the rational use of water resources highlighted at the meeting of President Nursultan Nazarbayev and Minister Nurlan Kapparov.
During the meeting, Nazarbayev said that the country's water resources are very important and their significance will grow in the future.
"Issues of use and conservation of water resources are within the jurisdiction of the Environment Ministry. Water resources are very important for Kazakhstan and their significance will only grow in the future. There is a shortage of drinking and irrigation water around the world. Thereupon, the country needs highly skilled professionals for the effective management of these processes," Nazarbayev said.
In general, the minister briefed the President on the main directions of the ministry, in particular on the approach to the formation of the country's 'green economy', the main provisions of the 'Green Bridge' partnership program and the preparation of a concept for holding the International Exhibition EXPO-2017 in Astana.
