A senior Iranian diplomat has hailed regional cooperation between Tehran and Moscow.
“Effective and stabilizing cooperation between Tehran and Moscow regarding the regional issues is developing,” IRNA news agency quoted Hossein Jaber Ansari, Iran's deputy foreign minister for African and Arab affairs, as saying at a meeting with Director of Russian Institute for Strategic Studies (RISS) Leonid Reshetnikov in Moscow on September 14.
“Tehran has a strong will to comprehensively expand its ties with Moscow,” he added.
In turn, Reshetnikov said that cooperation between Iran and Russia would benefit regional countries.
Heading a political delegation, Jaber Ansari is in Moscow for talks over Syrian crisis.
Following a meeting in Geneva on Sept. 10, Russia and the U.S. agreed to coordinate air strikes against extremists in Syria.
As part of a detailed agreement to reduce the violence there, a "cessation of hostilities" has been established in the Arab state.
The ceasefire does not include terrorist groups, such as the “Islamic State” (aka IS, ISIS, ISIL, or Daesh).
