Azerbaijan, Slovakia discuss expansion of relations
Deputy chair of the Azerbaijani Parliament Valeh Alasgarov has
met members of the Slovakia-Azerbaijan interparliamentary
friendship group of the Slovak National Council.
Asgarov hailed relations between the two countries, describing them
as “fraternal”.
He noted the importance of development of ties in the background
of recent ongoing processes in the world. He briefed the Slovak
delegation on Azerbaijan`s development in last 10 years, adding
“Azerbaijan is a country with strongest economy in the Southern
Caucasian region and is an author of important projects providing
energy security of Europe.”
Touching upon the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict,
the deputy chair said the problem cannot found its just settlement
yet.
“Unfortunately, the world community didn't make decisive steps in
time towards the settlement of the problem,” he stressed.
He also informed the Slovak delegation about the European Games to
be held in Baku.
Head of the group Madey Robert spoke of the role of high-level
relations between the legislative bodies in development of ties
between the two countries, and stressed the existing opportunities
for further strengthening of cooperation in various fields.
Later, the Slovak delegation met with members of the working group
on Azerbaijan-Slovakia interparliamentary relations. Head of the
working group Shamsaddin Hajiyev spoke of the historic relations
between the two countries.
He expressed gratitude to the Slovak parliament for supporting
Azerbaijan`s just position on the Armenian-Azerbaijani
Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
Madey Robert hailed Azerbaijan`s rapid development.
