Azerbaijan is close partner of US- commander
The Azerbaijani-Us relation were in focus of talks between Azerbaijani Defense Minister, Colonel General Safar Abiyev and Commander of the Oklahoma (USA) National Guard, Major General Myles Deering last week.
During the meeting, the minister expressed his satisfaction with the recent positive results achieved by the two countries in various areas of cooperation and added that good existing opportunities create favorable conditions for the development of relations between the countries.
Abiyev noted that the 907th amendment puts some impediments on the development of close cooperation.
According to him, despite the fact that U.S legislation creates certain impediments, the development and deepening of partnership is in the strategic interest of both countries.
Deering , in turn, said that Azerbaijan is a close partner of the U.S.
The guest expressed his deep gratitude to Safar Abiyev for the significant contribution of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces to the peacekeeping mission in Afghanistan.
