Int'l scouting camp created in Azerbaijani region

Azerbaijan`s Culture and Tourism Ministry jointly with the Association of Scouts of Azerbaijan organized an international camp, "Wonderland 2013", in the northern Azerbaijani region of Shaki on August 16-23, Azertag state news agency reports.

Shaki, one of the most beautiful cities of Azerbaijan, is located in the chain of the Great Caucasus Mountains. The camp, which is located between the mountains and forests on a river bank, brought together about 120 young people from Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, Poland and other countries.

The activities include pioneering, first aid, orienteering, climbing, hiking to a medieval fortress, sports games, and "Wonders of Shaki" city tour, just to name a few. The Association provides tents during camping and hiking.

The Association of Scouts of Azerbaijan, founded on October 11, 1997, plays a great role in educating the new generation of young people and comprises more than 1,400 members from all over Azerbaijan.

The organization has implemented over 210 projects and events.

The great contribution of scouting is motivation of young people for a harmonious world, respect to traditions, customs and religions of other nations, love for people and society and their country, tolerance, intelligence, life skills, developing young people to become responsible citizens and respected personalities.
