UN`s food agency to implement 3 projects in Azerbaijan next year
Azerbaijan is participating in three national and seven regional projects of the UN`s Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) at the present time, chief of FAO office in Baku Tarana Bashirova has said, AzerTac state news agency reported.
According to her, FAO has already approved the implementation of three national projects in Azerbaijan.
"One of these projects is to cultivate a virus-free potato seed. The project amounting to $400,000 will be initial step in creation of biotechnology laboratories and cultivation of virus-free potato seeds."
Bashirova stressed the second project, costing a total of $350,000, is the extension of abilities of the Ministry of Agriculture and other relevant organizations in marketing agrarian products.
The third national project, amounting to $200,000, is aimed at developing organic agriculture in Azerbaijan.
She added Azerbaijan will also participate in different regional projects, including those aimed at strengthening information system in food security and organizing selection in agriculture.
