Azeri tycoon opens Turkey’s first seven-star hotel

BAKU – Turkey’s first seven-star hotel worth $75 million, owned by Azerbaijani tycoon Mubariz Mansimov, opened in Istanbul on Tuesday.
The Edition-type hotel is based in the HSBC administration building in the Levent district downtown Istanbul, which sustained a bombing by Al Qaeda militants in 2003.
Suites cost up to 7,500 euros.
The hotel incorporates four top brands – the Edison hotel chain, a famed Cipriani restaurant like the one available in London, SPA and the Billionaire Club run by the Formula 1 owner.
The hotel was opened according to the agreement signed by Palmali Holding, headed by Mansimov, and US-based hotel giant Marriott International.
The opening was attended by Turkish Culture and Tourism Minister Ertugrul Gunay and other officials.
