1.8 million people lose jobs in Iran over past five years

Over the past five years, 1,808,400 people have been left without jobs in Iran, Mehr News Agency reported.

The main reason for losing the job is temporary workplace.

According to the workforce statistics, unemployed people who have been employed over the past five years have lost their jobs for 13 reasons. There are five major causes of unemployment.

The first reason is that 451,557 people lost their jobs because of temporary employment.

The second reason is low salary. Thus, 294,190 people are left without jobs because of low salaries.

The third reason is the staff reduction. Thus, 252,955 people have been left without jobs due to the staff reduction over the last five years.

The fourth reason is that a company or a firm completely ceased its activity. Thus, 126,986 people stopped to work for this reason.

The fifth reason is that 97,758 people have lost jobs because of seasonal work.

Among other reasons are workplace change, education, family issues, migration, retirement, seniority, illness, and so on.

According to the statistics, over the past five years only 64,364 jobless people use unemployment benefits, while 1,744,883 people do not get unemployment benefits.
