Azerbaijan-Afghanistan relations have strong background: Deputy FM

Relations between Azerbaijan and Afghanistan have strong background, Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Araz Azimov said at a press conference after the 7th Heart of Asia - Istanbul Process Ministerial Conference in Baku on December 1.

Azerbaijan and Afghanistan enjoy friendly, brotherly relations and these relations have a strong background, Azimov said.

He said the Baku Declaration, adopted at the end of the ministerial, is not a usual result of the conference.

This document is of more importance, since it enables to turn political statements into practice, the deputy minister added. Meanwhile, Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Affairs of Afghanistan Adela Raz said at the press conference that Afghanistan is grateful to Azerbaijan for holding the 7th Heart of Asia - Istanbul Process Ministerial Conference. The Heart of Asia – Istanbul Process is an important regional platform for political dialogue and close regional cooperation aimed at promoting stability, peace and prosperity in region, and for enhancing Afghanistan's connectivity with the entire region.

The participants are Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, China, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russian Federation, Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, the United Arab Emirates, and the United Nations.
