Kazakhstan seeks to produce up to 30,000 cars
Kazakhstan plans to produce 20,000 -30,000 cars in 2015, Kazakh
Vice Minister of Investment and Development Albert Rau said.
"This year, of course, it will be difficult to reimburse the losses
we have suffered due to large influx of cars from Russia.
Nevertheless, I think, we will produce 30,000 cars in an optimistic
scenario and 20,000 cars in the pessimistic scenario,"
Novosti-Kazakhstan quoted Rau as saying.
He noted that the Kazakh government plans to invest in car
producing infrastructure in Ust-Kamenogorsk, and possibly in
Kostanai.
Meanwhile, he said that Kazakhstan currently has capacity to weld
and paint about 80,000 cars and assembly about 60,000 cars per
year.
In 2014 Kazakh car producers produced 39,724 vehicles including
37,157 passenger cars and 2,567 trucks.
