Turkic world is proud of Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan has managed to create a vibrant economy and prosperous society despite many crises which have shaken the world over the past years, TURKPA’s Secretary General Jandos Asanov said during his speech before the Azerbaijani Parliament on April 15.
From this point of view, the First European Games scheduled for this June in Baku has become a source of great pride for the entire Turkic world, Asanov added.
He stressed that having witnessed firsthand the high level of organization and readiness of Azerbaijan he felt confident the country -- a TURKPA member -- will do an impeccable job at holding the Games.
This year’s exciting and innovative new multi-sport event in Baku will include 20 sports, 16 of which are Olympic, during the 17 days of competition in June 12-28. 6,000 athletes will prove themselves in Azerbaijan’s capital.
Modern Baku that combines an award-winning architecture with the Old City, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was chosen as the host of the Games by a majority of votes at the General Assembly of the European Olympic Committees, held in Rome in December 2012.
