Azerbaijan's Republic Day marked in European countries

Azerbaijan's Republic Day has been celebrated solemnly in several European countries.
The Embassy of Azerbaijan to Italy has arranged an official dinner at St. Regis hotel in Rome to mark Azerbaijan's Republic Day - May 28.
The event brought together Italy's government officials, members of parliament, representatives of the largest local companies, diplomatic corps and mass media.
Addressing the audience, Ambassador Vagif Sadigov spoke of the
significance of the Republic Day for Azerbaijan, the date on which
95 years ago the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic (ADR), the
first-ever secular democracy in the entire Muslim world was
established. The ambassador noted that this important event played
a crucial role in strengthening of national statehood traditions of
the Azerbaijani people.
Sadigov further praised the Italy-Azerbaijan relations.
The Republic Day of Azerbaijan was also marked in Paris at the
Dauphine pavilion.
The state and government officials of France, senators and MPs,
representatives of public, scientific and educational institutions
and diplomatic corps accredited in Paris, as well as heads of
international organizations, diaspora representatives and
Azerbaijani students attended the event.
Ambassador Elchin Amibayov highlighted the history of
Azerbaijan`s independence and the ongoing processes after the
restoration of independence.
Azerbaijan's Embassy in Switzerland also held an official reception
on the occasion of the Republic Day in Bern. Federal and cantonal
entities of Switzerland, diplomatic corps accredited in the
country, well-known public figures, businessmen, as well as members
of the Azerbaijani Diaspora in this country participated at the
event.The event featured a concert program by Azerbaijani pianist
Emil Muradov, and a video narrating about Azerbaijan.
The event on the occasion of the 95th anniversary of the
establishment of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, organized by
the Azerbaijan-Australia-Turkey Friendship Society, was held in
Sydney.
The speakers at the event briefed the participants on the history of the first democratic republic of the East, which existed in 1918-1920, and its progressive reforms carried out in this period.
The participants exchanged views on the successes of the ADR,
the development of the country after regaining independence, and
also touched upon the protracted Armenia-Azerbaijan
Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
