Azerbaijan ups budget expenses on health

Azerbaijani Minister of Health Ogtay Shiraliyev said that the state budget expenses on health rose by 11 times over the last decade. Also, over 500 healthcare facilities equipped with modern medical facilities and devices have been commissioned in Azerbaijan during the reported period.
"Some 38 medical facilities started functioning in 2012. The construction and repair of 69 healthcare facilities are currently underway. 50 of them will be commissioned by late this year," Shiraliyev said at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers.
He noted that construction and major repair of the Baku Healthcare Center, Sumgayit City Hospital No 1, Central hospitals of Absheron, Agjabedi, Agsu, Jalilabad, Yevlakh, Astara and Lankaran regions were financed by the Reserve Fund of the Azerbaijani President.
In addition, the Reserve Fund recently allocated funds for the strengthening of the logistics of the scientific research institutes of pediatric, obstetrics and gynecology that treat and ensure rehabilitation of mothers and children. This creates broad opportunities for raising the level of medical service in Baku and regions.
