Tourism week starts in Baku

A Tourism Week timed to the World Tourism Day has started in Baku.
The project launched on September 25 aims at encouraging the young people’s interest in the traditional art of carpet weaving, and preservation of historical monuments and cultural heritage.
Excursions to the historical sites will be organized for children of the shelter "Ümid Yeri", Trend Life reported.
Tours will be held to the Gala State History and Ethnography Reserve on September 26.
The children will acquaint with country's history in the National History Museum on September 27. Tours to Azerbaijan Carpet Museum will be organized on September 28.
Tourism Week will end with the tour to the Heydar Aliyev Center, one of the symbols of modern Baku on September 29.
Various exhibitions, round tables are also organized as part of event.
Many people around the world celebrate the United Nations’ (UN) World Tourism Day- September 27. The day aims to foster awareness among the international community of the importance of tourism and its social, cultural, political and economic values.
