Azerbaijani judo fighters claim 8 European medals
Azerbaijani fighters have brought a clutch of 8 medals, including 3 gold medals in the first day of the Cadet European Judo Cup in Fuengirola, Spain.
The gold medals came from Rovshan Aliyev (50kg), Vusal Ibrahimov (55kg) and Elchin Huseynov (60kg).
Other Azerbaijani judo fighters, Rufat Mammadov, Yashar Najafov and Murad Fetiyev grabbed bronze medals in the men`s event.
In the women`s event Shafag Hamidova and Gultaj Mammadaliyeva took bronze medals of the tournament in the 44kg and 48kg weight divisions respectively.
Azerbaijan topped the tournament`s medal table followed by Spain and Italy.
The national squad includes 14 judo fighters.
The tournament brings together 306 judo fighters from 21 countries, Azertac state news agency reported.
