Azerbaijani judo fighters win 3 gold medals at int'l tournament

The Grand Slam international judo tournament dedicated to the 90th anniversary of national leader Heydar Aliyev ended in Azerbaijan on Sunday. The two-day tournament, held at Sarhadchi Olympic Sports Center in the capital Baku, brought together more than 190 fighters from 25 countries.

Azerbaijani judo fighters claimed a clutch of seven medals -- three gold, one silver and three bronze medals at the Grand Slam.

Gold medals came from Shahin Qahramanov vying in the 90 kg weight bracket and Elkhan Mammadov at 100 kg. Nijat Shikhalizade competing in the 66 kg weight bracket gained silver, while Huseyn Rahimli and Elmar Gasimov won bronze in the 73kg and 100 kg bracket respectively.

Azerbaijani female fighter Kifayat Gasimova scooped bronze in the 57kg bracket.
