Azerbaijani gymnast Lala Yusifova won the bronze medal in Women's Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup organized in Bucharest on April 19-21.

Besides Azerbaijan, athletes from Australia, Austria, Belgium, Belarus, Bulgaria, Brazil, Canada, Cyprus, Ecuador, Egypt, Finland, France, Georgia, Japan, Israel, Italy, Moldova, Britain, Russia, Serbia, Turkey, Ukraine and Uzbekistan took part in the competition.

The Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation reported that Yusifova qualified for the final in the exercise with hoop and took the third place. The 17-year-old athlete was the 7th in the exercise with a ball and the 8th in the all-around competition.

Another athlete, Marina Durunda, who also participated in the championship, did not win any medals though she performed in all four finals of the tournament.

14-year-old Veronica Omarova, who participated in an international tournament among juniors held within the World Cup, won silver, leaving Ukraine behind. A Russian gymnast won the gold medal there.

Meanwhile, 13-year-old Zuleykha Ismayilova performing in a competition in the Turkish city of Konya become an absolute winner, head coach of the national team Mariana Vasileva said.

Also, the 5th European Men's and Women's Artistic Gymnastic Individual Championships have drawn to a close in Moscow. In the qualifying round Azerbaijani athlete Shakir Shikhaliyev scored 77.564 points and took the 35th place among 50 participants.

Ugur Khalilbeyli, who made his debut on the European stage, ranked 47th in the free exercise and Ruslan Namazov was 72nd on the pommel horse among 92 participants.
