Iran saves 12 bcm of flare gas
By implementing the first phase of Plan Amak, Iran has saved 12 billion cubic meters of flare gas from being burnt, Morteza Mir Nassiri, director of the plan said.
The second phase of the plan is 99 percent through, he underlined, Shana news agency reported.
Plan Amak kicked off in 2001 and included building seven pressure boost stations and a sweetening refinery. The first phase came on stream three years later.
Nassiri said the refinery receives 154 million cubic feet of sour gas from boost stations for sweetening. He added the refinery exports 140 million cubic feet of gas to a gas and liquid gas factories.
“We managed to save 240 million cubic feet of gas a day since the first phase came on stream,” he said.
“The only thing that now remains of the second phase is to prevent 10 million cubic meters of gas from being burnt, 75 percent of which is CO2.”
According to Iran Oil Ministry's documents, it is planned to gather flared associated gas of 39 oil fields (50 phases) as well as 10 phases of South Pars gas field to prevent burning of 19.78 mcm/d gas in torches.
