Iran's Khamenei pardons 1,298
Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has issued
an order to pardon 1,298 convicts in the country, Trend news agency
reported referring to the IRIB News.
Head of Iran's judiciary Ayatollah Sadeq Larijani sent a request
letter to Khamenei, regarding the pardon of the convicts, which was
approved.
The order was approved on Monday, on the occasion of birth of
prophets Hazrat Muhammad Mustafa and Imam Jafar Sadiq, and also the
upcoming thirty-fourth anniversary of the victory of Islamic
Revolution.
Among the pardoned are those convicted previously by the Public and
Revolutionary courts, political individuals, military personnel and
civilians who are serving various prison terms.
