Iran not concerned over leaks of confidential nuclear information

Iran has no concern over leaking confidential information about the nuclear deal, Ali Akbar Salehi, head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), said. The leaked information proves the sagacity and intelligence of the Iranian nuclear negotiating team, Salehi said, Fars news agency reported Aug. 8.

The leak of confidential nuclear document has became a source of concern and problem in the US, Salehi said, adding they say why Iran’s time to “breakout”- defined as the amount of time that it would take Iran to produce sufficient weapons-grade uranium or plutonium for one nuclear weapon - has decreased from one year to four months.

Last month, the Associated Press cited a classified document which said Iran’s scaling back of its nuclear program under last year’s agreement with the P5+1 group of countries “will start to ease years before the 15-year accord expires.” Reacting to the report, Iran said that will submit a note of protest to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), however the UN nuclear agency has denied leaking confidential information about Iran’s nuclear program.

Behrouz Kamalvandim, the AOEI spokesman earlier said that the parts of the document published were confidential and were supposed to remain so. “Our assumption is that it has been leaked by the agency,” Kamalvandi argued.
