Embassy says U.S. committed to partnering with Azerbaijan
The U.S. remains committed to partnering with Azerbaijan to achieve the most independent, stable, prosperous and democratic future possible, the US Embassy inBaku reported on April 29.
The embassy said the U.S. stood by Azerbaijan in the early days of its independence and took actions, including the support for the Contract of the Century.
“America worked closely with Azerbaijan during its tenure on the UN Security Council,” said the embassy, adding that the US has provided over $1.3 billion in assistance and humanitarian supplies to Azerbaijan since 1992.
The embassy also said that U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry has met and corresponded with Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev to discuss ways to strengthen the two counties’ partnership.
