The territory of Icherisheher (Old City), a unique state historical and architectural preserve in the center of the Azerbaijani capital Baku, has been fully covered by the wireless network Wi-Fi, Icherisheher Office said on June 24.

The wireless access network allows visitors to get free access to the electronic guidebook and some Internet resources including the official website icherisheher.gov.az, the Icherisheher Facebook page as well as a number of media.

Wireless technology W-Fi is one of the most convenient for users, as the market is full of devices like laptops and smart phones that support the standard.

Icherisheher, a pearl of the Azerbaijani culture, notwithstanding its small size, which is only 22 hectares, possesses hundreds of historical monuments, four of which are of global importance.

The Old City of Baku, which includes Shirvanshahs Palace and Maiden Tower, became the first location in Azerbaijan to be classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2000.

The Old City is a unique town within the city of Baku with its own infrastructure and residential communities. More than 1,300 families live in Icherisheher; it contains a number of museums, 18 hotels, and over 100 commercial and catering facilities.

The historic monuments and a wide range of tourism options make Icherisheher one of the most popular tourist attractions in Azerbaijan. Millions of tourists visit this landmark first in the city. Their visits will be more convenient using the new wireless connection opportunity.

The fortress is located in the center of Baku along the coast of the Caspian Sea. The walls of the fortress are 8-10 meters high and 3.5 meters wide.
