Azerbaijan expects Georgia's initiative to continue border delimitation negotiations

Azerbaijan expects Georgia's official invitation to continue the negotiations towards the delimitation of borders with Georgia, chairman of the State Committee for Land and Cartography Garib Mammadov told media Tuesday, Trend news agency reported.

He said the negotiations were conducted at the level of experts to delimitate the borders. At present an official invitation is expected from the Georgian side to reach an agreement on this issue.

Mammadov said that Azerbaijan and Georgia have no disputable issues on the delimitation of borders.

"Some claims were made during the first years of independence, but they were resolved," he said.

Georgia borders with seven Azerbaijani regions - Gazakh, Agstafa, Tovuz, Samukh, Gakh, Balakan and Zagatala stretching 480 kilometres. The parties have so far agreed 65 per cent of the state border line.
