Chairman of Azerbaijan's Central Election Commission (CEC) Mazahir Panahov will not be able to observe the presidential election in Russia.
"The Chairman of the Russian CEC has personally invited me to observe the presidential election in Russia, scheduled for March 18. However, at that time, the campaigning period will start in Azerbaijan in connection with the upcoming presidential election," Panahov told reporters on March 7.
He noted that other representatives of the Azerbaijani CEC will take part in observation of the election in the Russian Federation.
"Representatives of the Azerbaijani CEC are also members of the CIS observation mission and two representatives of the CEC will also be in the OSCE/ODIHR observation mission. The Azerbaijani CEC has been cooperating with this organization for more than a decade, and CEC representatives participate in missions for monitoring elections in various countries," Panahov said.
The presidential election will be held in Azerbaijan on April 11.
