An unexploded 76-millimeter artillery shell was detected in the Sabunchu district of Baku on the territory called ‘Gulchuluk state farm’ while inspecting a garden, the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) told Trend on June 26.

ANAMA took the detected ammunition from the territory to defuse it.

In general, ANAMA specialists detected 5,780 unexploded ordnance, as well as 191 anti-tank and 30 anti-personnel mines, in Azerbaijan since early 2017.

ANAMA was established in 1998 for planning and coordination, management and monitoring of mine action related activities all over the country.

The Agency has cleared more than 400 million square meters of Azerbaijan’s territory, and discovered and defused over 760,000 pieces of unexploded ordnance during 10 years of its activity. Most of the unexploded ordnance is the result of Armenian aggression.
