Production, sale of bread exempted from VAT for another 2 years in Azerbaijan

The import and sale of wheat, as well as the production and sale of wheat flour and bread, are exempt from value added tax (VAT) for another 2 years in Azerbaijan, as provided for by the amendments to the Azerbaijani Tax Code discussed during the plenary session of the Azerbaijani Parliament on March 29, 2019, Trend reports.
The amendments provide for the prolongation of exemptions starting from March 1, 2019.
The amendments were passed after discussion.
The import and sale of wheat, the production and sale of wheat flour and bread in Azerbaijan have been exempted from VAT since 2016. In 2017, the exemption was extended for a period of 3 years.
According to the State Statistical Committee, the volume of production of bread and bakery products in January-February 2019 amounted to 209,400 tons, which is 1.7 percent more than the same period last year.
