Baku 2015 first European Games grand in all spheres

The first European Games in Baku were grand in all spheres,” Patrick Hickey, the head of the European Olympic Committee, said at a final press-conference on June 28.

“Everything has completed successfully,” he said.

He said that there were no complaints in connection with the first European Games, as well as the Athletes’ Village.

Hickey appreciated the work of the media outlets. He said that the accreditation of 900 foreign journalists testifies to the importance of the Games.

The European Games kicked off in Baku June 12 and will last till June 28. There is a total of 20 sports at Baku 2015: 16 Olympic sports and four non-Olympic sports.

More than 6,000 athletes from across Europe came to Baku to represent their nations over 17 days of competition. Baku was awarded the games by the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in December 2012.
