Classification jerseys for Tour d’Azerbaidjan presented
The roads of Azerbaijan will once again revive with the cycle wheels this spring, as Tour d’Azerbaidjan- 2016 cycle race will be held in the country on May 4-8.
Today, the new jerseys for the various classifications at the
Tour d’Azerbaidjan were presented.
The jerseys include the blue “Synergy” leader’s jersey, awarded to
the rider in first place in the general classification after each
stage. The red “AZAL” king of the mountains jersey is for the best
climber of the Tour d'Azerbaidjan, and the green “SOCAR” jersey is
for the rider leading the points classification. The magenta “Ata”
jersey will be awarded to the best young rider (under 23) overall
after each stage.
“We are very pleased with the designs for these jerseys,” said
Farhad Aliyev, Secretary General of the Azerbaijani Cycling
Federation. "Our unique blue leader's jersey has been worn by
riders who are now competing at the top of our sport, and we're
very proud of this."
The Tour d'Azerbaidjan will start on Wednesday with the first stage from Baku to Sumgayit, which will likely end in a bunch sprint, and will see the first wearers of each of the classifications decided.
