Azerbaijani climbers to conquer Mount Kazbek

Azerbaijani climbers started to scale the Mount Kazbek Kazbek Mountain located in the Caucasus mountain range on August 13, the Azerbaijan Mountaineering Federation reports.

The Azerbaijani expedition group, led by President of Azerbaijan Mountaineering Federation Israfil Ashurlu, includes members of Nikoil Bank, Mountain Sport Club and Gartal Club.

Another sport club of the Federation, Irbis, conquered the 5,033-meter-high mountain peak on August 10.

Mount Kazbek is one of the major mountains of the Caucasus located on the border of Kazbegi region of Georgia and North Ossetia. It is the third highest mountain in Georgia after Mount Shkhara and Janga and the seventh highest peak in the Caucasus Mountains.

Meanwhile, Azerbaijani climbers also escalating Khan Tengri peak of the Tian Shan system of mountain ranges in Central Asia from July 26.

The Azerbaijan Mountaineering Federation has been active since 1997 and is involved in the development of mountain climbing in the country as well as represents this sport in international sports organizations and associations.

The Federation cooperates with Azerbaijan's Youth and Sports Ministry to attract people to sport activity, manpower training, organizing and training national teams and sending them to international competitions, and is responsible for their performances including their honorary awards.
